QCWT Executive Board Meeting

July 12, 2010

Present: Jerry Sergeant, Art Jackson, Lloyd and Linda Beckman, Mike Moseley, Dave Johnson, Steve and Anne Sinner, Joe Meirhaege, Denny Hurd, Ron Curtis, Randy and Donna Nagle, Jim Loula

The June board minutes were approved on a motion from Lloyd and seconded by Art. Treasurer Lloyd reported $3,794.86 in the regular account and $809.68 in the pop fund. The report was accepted on a motion from Joe, seconded by Art.

1. Taxes: A Rock Island County bill for 2010 taxes in the amount of $919.04 has been paid. For comparison, the 2009 bill was $896.

2. Wood for Picnic: Roger Viager will provide the wood for the picnic auction and sale. He will set aside the best pieces for the auction and other pieces will be marked to sell. Dave Johnson and Robin Fraser will bring the wood to DeSoto.

3. Other Picnic Information: The date is August 17, starting at 6 PM.: Pulled pork and chicken will be provided and Art Witte has volunteered to smoke some of the meat. Donna, Linda and Anne will get buns, paper goods, condiments, etc. Members will be asked to bring food and/or drink to share. Pop donations are needed.

4. Airport Show: Sarge, Steve, Art and Dave will meet following the board meeting to determine the details for making and entering the work. It will be presented at the July meeting on the 20^th.

5. Additional Big Lathe: Member Steve Shippey has a new 16” Jet for sale for $1400. Mike made a motion, seconded by Art, to purchase. The motion carried. A purchase of this size requires membership approval, which will be requested at the club meeting.

6. Grinder Purchase: Ron made a motion, seconded by Joe, to purchase a new grinder. The motion carried.

7. Sealer: Randy Nagle will arrange for purchase and delivery of a replacement barrel of sealer. Cost is about $450.

8. Sale of Delta Lathe and Duplicator: This combo will be offered to club members for $600.

9. AAW: Steve will talk at the club meeting about the resignation/firing of Mary Lacer.

July chapter meeting – Tuesday, July 20. Sharpening is the demonstration subject.

August board meeting – Monday, July 12, 6 PM

August chapter meeting and picnic – August 17, 6 PM
